Alan Farley of the Street.com this week profiled four gambling stocks.
Bally Technologies he claimed was a winner despite some troubles at the start of the recent financial meltdown.
"Bally Technologies(BYI Quote) posted a double bottom between $12 and $13, and then moved higher with the broad market in March. It mounted the 200-day moving average in May, with the uptrend stalling out a few days later and giving way to an ascending triangle. Sports Interaction Senior Bookmaker, Rob Dastidar, told Darren Rovell of CNBC Monday afternoon that Lucas Glover’s shock win at this year’s US Open was a "win win" for online bookmakers.
"I can’t remember the last time over the last ten years that we’ve had so little money bet on the guys that finished on top," Dastidar said.
Glover began the tournament at odds of 175-to-1. But Dastidar told CNBC that even those odds only enticed a few bettors, with wagers that were all less than $10.

Last month the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement gave MGM an ultimatum: cut ties with their questionable partnership with alleged crime syndicate member Pansy Ho, or lose their gaming rights in Atlantic City. To cut ties with either their Asian partner or their Atlantic City operations could be potentially devastating to MGM’s financial outlook in consideration of the current economy.
Ho is MGM’s partner in their lucrative Grand Macau resort, and MGM recently announced their intentions to expand on their Asian campaign. Across the board, gambling industry analysts have lauded Macau as the safest bet in the resort/casino market, and MGM’s Asian holdings have already saved their stocks from the falling profits that have afflicted less diverse gambling brands.

There was a flurry of press related to the announcement Tuesday that Mixed Martial Arts cult phenom, Kimbo Slice, will be appearing on the next installment of the Ultimate Fighter reality series.
The folks at Sportsbook.com were scrambling to post odds on Kimbo Slice.
"We opened odds on whether he’ll make it to the Finals," said Sportsbook.com Spokesperson, Dave Stanley.
And the world’s largest online gambling site in terms of customer volume doesn’t have much hope for Slice.
Yes: +250
No: -325
"He’s a favorite not to make the final," says Stanley. "But if he does, the payout would be $250 for every $100 bet."
KIMBO SLICE has vowed to ram UFC President Dana White’s criticism down his throat by winning season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter, according to the London Sun.
The former Elite XC star has continuously been bashed by White for his lack of jiu-jitsu and wrestling ability.
He has pledged to silence White and the rest of his critics once and for all by winning a full-time contract with the world’s leading mixed martial arts promotion.
Slice said: "It’s an opportunity for me to prove myself and show that I can be a mixed martial artist.
"I’ve come from the backyard and been a street fighter but it’s time to step my game up.
"A lot of people have a lot of questions about if I can fight mixed martial arts style – how good is my ground game and all that bulls*** – but I’m coming in to prove myself.
